EPL team rejoices with all of Ukraine at the decision of the European Council on the readiness to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
At the same time, we are aware that this is the beginning of a new difficult path. We will remind that the previous decision of the European Commission was followed by Ukraine 2023 Report that assessed Ukraine’s level of readiness to implement the environmental component of European legislation as “some level of preparation”. Also, in this document, the European Commission outlined a number of difficult tasks for Ukraine in this area for 2024. Therefore, it is a huge responsibility of the leadership of Ukraine to its own people and Western partners for future, taken (or not taken) steps.
EPL offers its vision of how our state should implement environmental policy that should be transparent, sustainable and oriented to European standards. We propose the first seven steps, seven urgent reforms, implementation of which will help our government and the Verkhovna Rada to bring national legislation closer to environmental part of the EU acquis.
Our team is ready to cooperate with parliamentarians and government officials of Ukraine with the aim of completing this path as soon as possible.
