The approbation of the distance course for judges “Human rights and environmental protection” will be performed from the 2nd May until 1st June 2018. This course was developed by International charitable organization “Environment-People-Law” thanks to support of the National School of Judges of Ukraine and funding of New Justice USAID Program within the project “Effective justice for protection of the environment and environmental rights of citizens”. Experienced judges and lawyers participated in development of the course, the most recent jurisprudence was used. It should be emphasized that this is a specialized course. After completing the course, the judges will get a practical tool that will substantially ease their work in the course of reviewing such categories of cases.
10 judges will go through the course in test regime. After completion of the course, the judges will be asked to fill in the feedback questionnaire in order to provide recommendations for improving the course. Further, the course will be included into the curriculum of distance education for judges.
During the course, judges will gain new knowledge and techniques of effective reviewing cases on environmental protection. The course participants will learn about basic provisions of the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Environmental Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters. The judges will get tools for reviewing environmental cases.
The distance course will be implemented within the project “Effective justice for protection of the environment and environmental rights of citizens” supported by New Justice Program funded by USAID.
