According to the sociological survey conducted by International Charitable Organization “Environment-People-Law” and Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in November – December 20181, a large majority of Ukrainians (80 %) recognize the need for pro-European reforms in the field of the environmental protection and rational use of natural resources. Only 8 % of citizens disagree with this course, and 12 % could not find their position.
The results of the survey confirmed that the residents of the Western Ukraine support the European integration processes more (85 %) than the residents of other regions (Center – 77 %, South – 79 %). Nevertheless, 77 % of the residents of the Eastern Ukraine also lean towards such a course of the reform and development of the environmental protection field.
The introduction of the European environmental legislation in Ukraine is mostly favored by educated representatives of the younger and middle generations with an average and high standards of well-being.

1 The survey was conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology ordered by International Charitable Organization “Environment-People-Law”. As part of the study, 2034 interviews were conducted with respondents living in 110 localities of Ukraine. The questions were taken from the questionnaire of the Eurobarometer international comparative research project (Special Issue).
