On July 6-8, 2022, EPL is holding the earlier announced summer school for successful graduates of the online course on environmental aspects of community management. This year, the summer school will thematically focus on post-war reconstruction of Ukraine because we all believe in and look forward to Ukraine’s imminent victory in the war against the aggressor. Post-war reconstruction will be a challenge for all of us – environmental activists, local governments, public authorities. It is obvious that the reconstruction will require the use of natural resources, recovery of infrastructure of settlements damaged by the hostilities, application of environmentally friendly technologies. Also, an important role in this process of reconstruction should be played by the public that should be involved at all stages of decision-making, and also to obtain expert opinion, to monitor the effectiveness of the use of funds, to control investors and contractors, etc. Therefore, the public must be ready to offer alternatives, to discuss and defend the interests of nature, the rights of their children and grandchildren to live in a clean environment.
To this end, we will once again discuss with the participants of the school environmental assessment procedure – SEA and EIA – , and their role in post-war reconstruction as well as importance of the use and conservation of water resources.
Moreover, this year’s participants of the online course will receive a “bonus” from EPL – in-person participation in the international conference organized by EPL entitled “Impact of the hostilities on the environment in Ukraine and human rights – civilizational challenges to humankind” that will be attended by international lawyers, experts in international legal regulation of military conflicts and experts in documenting crimes against the environment.
Congratulations to the participants of the online course who successfully coped with all tasks and mastered the issues of strategic planning at the community level and taking into account of environmental aspects, management and protection of forest and land resources, protection and conservation of biodiversity at the community level.
All successful students receive EPL certificates, and the most successful ones already pack their bags to go to the Carpathians. EPL lecturers and experts are ready to be inspired by beautiful landscapes of the Carpathians and plan a new online course for 2023 taking into account wishes and recommendations of the participants of 2022 online course! Thus, please follow EPL’s announcements and news.
