11 March 2016 Putin’s agents appropriated results of studies performed by Ukrainian environmental researchers

Last year lawyers and environmentalists of EPL conducted a study of environmental consequences of military actions in Donbas. Representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation presented these studies as their own achievements.

4 March 2016 Information on water and level of its pollution is now open

On 24 February 2016, Lviv Circuit Administrative Court adopted a decision in EPL’s case against Mykolayiv regional administration of water resources and found unlawful refusal of the administration to provide EPL with information contained in water report (2-tp) as confidential information, and in this way confirmed openness of this information.

The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Environmental policy, Nature Use and Liquidation of Consequences of Chornobyl disaster issued a positive conclusion on the draft law 2009a “On Environmental Impact Assessment” that introduces an European model of preliminary assessment of environmental impact of various types of activities that cause adverse environmental impact.

19 February is the World Day of Sea Mammals Protection. Ukraine has also habitats of mammals. There are three types of cetaceans in Ukrainian territorial waters – bottlenose dolphins, porpoises and azov dolphins. All of them are on the Red Species List of Ukraine and International agreement on the conservation of cetaceans.
