In 2012, in the Odessa region there was created one of the largest in Ukraine steppe reserves – reserve “Tarutynskyi steppe” with an areas of 5200 hectares1. The reserve was created on virgin territory that previously belonged to Tarutyno military range.

On October 26, 2016, International charitable organization “Environment-People-Law”, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of Lviv Regional State Administration and the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine in Lviv region held a press conference “The truth and lies about forest logging in Ukraine.”

The media often release news on unauthorized constructions within coastal protection strips, the objects of protected areas etc. Massiveness of such constructions indicates that in Ukraine there is no state architectural control although there is a body that is authorized to perform it.
