About the situation around Chornobyl
On February 24, Russian occupation forces seized the territory of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and established their control in the Exclusion Zone.
As of today, no one can give an official comment. However, the current situation is, without exaggeration, an immense threat to the whole Europe.
Without a doubt, the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and the spent nuclear fuel repository are the most risky objects from the point of view of Europe’s safety. Any slightest damage to the station’s facilities can have unpredictable consequences. As the consequences of the Chornobyl accident in 1986 showed, radiation pollution from this station spread far beyond Ukraine by air, even reaching Great Britain. It is very important that day and night there are specialists at tha plant (as it happens in the normal mode). But now the enemy’s actions are so provocative that the consequences can be extremely unexpected and irreparable.
According to the latest available data from the Automated system of radiation control of the exclusion zone, which are available in the online mode, the levels of gamma radiation dose rate (red dots) at a significant part of the observation points indicate that the control indicators have been exceeded. Due to the occupation and hostilities, it is currently impossible to determine the causes of the change in the radiation background in the exclusion zone. The troops of the aggressor at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant create the risk of using nuclear facilities as weapons because radiation pollution knows no borders and can destroy not only Ukraine, its people, lands and rivers, but will have dire consequences for the European continent. Currently it looks like nuclear power plants have become one of the important strategic goals of the Russian aggressor, and can be used by him instead of nuclear weapons to blackmail and destroy other states.
That is why it is necessary to impose a No Fly Zone!
