Ecologists compiled a map of nature and reserve areas sustaining damage due to unauthorized actions of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in the areas under control.

It means the map in question does not include damage within ATO area directly caused by combat actions. Moreover, last year International Charitable Organization “Environment – People – Law” published a map of nature reserve areas damaged due to ATO, which later was significantly extended.

New research illustrates cases of neglect of duty, irresponsible and thoughtless actions of the Ministry of Defense officials or commanders of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that caused damage of reserve areas or endanger them. The study was conducted during 2015-2016.
Information on environmental consequences for the territories of Nature and Reserve Fund is divided into the following groups:
- Territories occupied by the military units without authorization.
- Territories used for military exercise.
- Territories MoD of Ukraine attempts to occupy.
- Territories with unauthorized fortifications.
