Dwellers from Energodar city decided to protect Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant from Russian army. People flooded the entrance roads to the city and to the nuclear power plant to block Russian soldiers from occupation of the city Energodar and Zaporizhzhya NPP.
Energodar was founded in 1970 when Zaporizhzhya NPP
was build. Zaporizhzhya NPP is the biggest in Europe and 6th in the world nuclear power complex. It consists from 6 nuclear power blocks 1 mln кВт each.
This nuclear power plant generates half of the electricity produced by Ukrainian nuclear power plans. It also has dry storage of spent nuclear fuel on its territory and it contains spent fuel only from this NPP.
EPL has drawn attention of the world community to the threat that Russian and Belarus armed forces are posing to the whole world through armed conflict in Ukraine. Ukrainian nuclear power plants are the targets of invaders of Ukraine creating the risk to the whole Europe and world! Chornobyl NPP was occupied by Russian armed forces during first days of the war.
So as long as the armed conflict in Ukraine is ongoing, the risk of nuclear accident and pollution is very high, thus we urge international community to take joint and extraordinary measures to help Ukraine and stop the war initiated by Russian Federation.
Stop Putin! Stop the war!
