In the United State there was published a report which admitted the existence of ‘Iraqi syndrome” – various ailments from which suffered veterans of the first war in Iraq.
Among about 700 thousand of American participants of the 1991 war in Iraq, every fourth suffered from disorders of immune system, problems with memory, chronic fatigue and many other symptoms.
According to the report made at the direction of the US Congress by a commission of 15 persons, mostly academicians, “Iraqi syndrome” was caused by application of substances given to militaries for protection from neuroparalytic gas as well as by wide usage of pesticides as protection against insects.
According to the head of the commission James H. Binns, the tragic fact is that there is no treatment for this syndrome. In this report it was suggested to allocate 60 million of US dollars for treatment of veterans of the first war in Iraq.
