BEI is an environmental NGO established to promote the protection of the envitonment and human health, realization and protection of environmental rights and interests of people, ptotection of consumers’ rights to safe and healthy products and reliable information about them. BEI includes lawyers, journalists, and environmental experts, involves other journalists and non-governmental organizations for the cooperation, and facilitates their own investigations and other activities aimed to protect the environment and human health, to prevent environmental problems. The main research direction of BEI is currently the hazardous wastes (including their transboundary movement) and hazardous industries, climate change and greenhouse gas emissions, persistant organic pollutants, biodiversity and prevention of illegal trade with endangered species, conservation of protected areas.
