Essence of the Problem:
Local residents of Bilyky village, after long and ineffective fight against local pig farm located in the village center, launched mass protests and blockage of the territory of the pig farm. As a result of the blockage, the food supply to the farm was stopped. The company filed a suit to court against activists claiming compensation of material damages.
Main facts:
“Silski tradycii” LtD filed a suit to court against 11 (and later 14) activists demanding compensation of material damages. The case was filed on 18 October, 2016. The plaintiff asked the court to order 11 mln UAH as compensation of material damages suffered by the farm as a result of blockade of food supply to the farm buildings, which resulted in weight loss of pig population and also death of pigs. The case is considered by Oktyabrskyj rayon court of Poltava city. The case consideration was suspended until the consideration of criminal cases initiated by the police on blocking of pig farm by activists.
On 09.10.2018, the plaintiff filed a motion to court asking the court to leave the case without consideration. The ruling of Oktyabrskyj rayon court of Poltava city as of 12.10.2018 satisfied this motion and left the court case of “Silski tradycii” LtD without consideration. http://www.reyestr.court.gov.ua/Review/77761933
