The challenges faced by Ukraine in the sphere of environmental protection are the following:

The web site of the Supreme Council of Ukraine published “Remarks of the Chief legal department of the Supreme Council of Ukraine” regarding the draft law on extraction and realization of amber #1351-1. According to these remarks, the law has many drawbacks and will not contribute to solution of the problem of illegal extraction and realization of amber.

International Union for Conservation of Nature started the Regional Conservation Forum for Europe, North and Central Asia that will take place from 14 till 16 December in Helsinki, Finland. EPL participates in the Forum as IUCN member.

On 29 July 2015, the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee addressed the Ministry of Environment of Ukraine with a proposal to provide their feedback to facts and accusations expressed by EPL regarding the shalegas agreements within five months.

On the International Animal Rights Day observed on 10 December, we would like to draw your attention to animals that are currently in the territory of the antiterrorist operation (ATO) and for over two years have been killed as a result of military actions.

9 December 2015 For 15 months, experts of International charitable organization “Environment-People-Law” have been releasing information on environmental consequences of the war in eastern Ukraine. However, neither Ukraine nor other countries paid sufficient attention to serious human rights violations in eastern Ukraine caused by environmental factors.

On 7-8 December 2015, International charitable organization “Environment-People-Law” jointly with the National School of Judges of Ukraine held training for judges of administrative courts.

On 26.11.2015, the Parliament of Ukraine considered in the first reading the draft law on environmental impact assessment that the Parliament did not adopt and returned for additional rework because of the opposition on behalf of business lobby.

On 10-11 November, Kyiv hosted an International practical conference “Road map for Ukraine in the sphere of waste management and electronic governance” organized by the International charitable organization “Environment-People-Law” (EPL) with support from the Embassy of Sweden.
