The world is gradually breaking ties with the Russian economy, but many companies are still trying to make money in Russia, thus sponsoring the war.
Fish and seafood are much of Russia’s exports and end up on store shelves in Europe and America. Sometimes directly, sometimes after processing in China or other countries. Export of fish and seafood brings billions of dollars to the aggressor’s budget annually. These can be transformed in hundreds of missiles in peaceful Ukrainian cities.
But there is a quick and easy way to close the way to the market of civilized countries for such products – to revoke the certificates of environmental compliance MSC (Marine Stewardship Council). Because no product from Russia can be called “sustainable”.
But like their “colleagues” in forest certification schemes, the MSC does not notice Russian aggression. Because Russians pay good money for certification. However, you can remind them of this:
• Write on social media pages (https://www.facebook.com/MSCecolabel and https://twitter.com/mscecolabel)
• Write to MSC key partners (https://tinyurl.com/a2cnus58)
• Write to MSC Advisory Board organizations (https://tinyurl.com/a2cnus58)
The text of the statement itself is available at the link (https://tinyurl.com/4ca699yk).
The requirements are very simple: cancel all certificates for all companies in Russia and those that catch fish and seafood in Russia.
Example of such text in English:
“The brutal war in Ukraine is incompatible with any stability. The Russian invasion is the opposite to all the goals of the UN’s sustainable development. Any product exported from Russia supports death and destruction in Ukraine.
We ask MSC to support Ukraine in these difficult days and to terminate all certificates held by organizations and companies operating in Russia».
